Barcelona – Where to Eat and Drink?

Suggestions for dinner and lunch

Venus Delicatessen

Venus Delicatessen is a Mediterranean restaurant inside the Gothic Quarter. This restaurant has a really nice welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. When we chose this restaurant, it was already 3 pm and we were starving. I ordered Moussaka, the 1st time I tried, and it was yummy.

My friends ordered different dishes and all of them were happy with what they got. This restaurant is not expensive at all and the service is good and quick.

We ended up in this restaurant after checking several reviews online. We wanted to try traditional Spanish food and we found MOMO, a restaurant inside the Gothic Quarter.

The atmosphere is very discrete with dim light which makes the experience relaxing. The day we went to this restaurant there was a special menu for 22 euros that included starters, main course – paella, and dessert.

The food was yummy and the ham croquets were so delicious that I could have had half a dozen. Check the website and look in the section “Grupos” and see the different menus they have.

Suggestions for snacks and quick meals

Bosc de les Fades

This is absolutely THE coffee place to go. Inside is an artificial enchanted, fairy forest. The light is dim and mysterious. From time to time the lights are turned off and a replica of rain and thunderstorms can be experienced – a magical experience.

You have a choice of cocktails, coffee, tea, beer and soft drinks. Have in mind the place might be full, try to go during less busy hours. Bosc de les Fades is an unique café.

100 Montaditos

This chain of restaurants can be found in other countries, not only in Spain. In Portugal you can find 100 Montaditos so we had already tried before we went here. I think if you are looking for a quick lunch or snack 100 Montaditos fits perfectly your needs. There are restaurants in a lot of different places in Barcelona.

IMG_20180430_154033To explain very quickly this place: In here you can choose small sandwiches with different fillings. All of them are delicious.

To Drink:  we ordered what they call “Tinto de Verano” – a red wine Sangria. I recommend you tried it. You won’t regret, very refreshing.

We also tried the “Desserts” – very tasty.

Pans & Company

20180502_160452Other idea for a quick/late lunch or snack is this chain of restaurants – Pans & Company. Even though this company can be found regularly in many other countries you can always find something different, specific of that country. In here we found their “special fries” – patatas bravas – fries served with a spicy tomato sauce. Tasty!! The sandwiches were delicious too, and with  different fillings. Do not forget to try the fries, even if in another place (we also have them at Momo – see above). Pans & Company is always a safe and handy option. You have lots of these restaurants in Barcelona, just check on the website the closest to you.

La Boquería

CIMG9782The Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boquería, most known as “La Boquería” is a large and colorful public food market. This is one of the biggest and most famous food markets in Europe. This place is so busy, loud and vibrant, making it almost a overload to our senses. There are so many different stalls, of fruit, sweets pastries, milkshakes, it is amazing what you can get here. You can eat delicious, tasty food for a very good deal. This food market is a place than anyone can miss if visiting Barcelona.
