How to go?
To get to Budapest we got a flight with Wizz Air. The flights from UK and especially if bought in advance are quite cheap.
The sits in this air company do not allow much space. There was a guy next to me spent all flight moving around his seat (probably he thought he could make more room for himself). Obviously it didn’t work. But I don’t have complaints, after all it does the job.
How to get from airport to the city/hotel?
The airport of Budapest is not very close from the city so the best option is getting a taxi. If you do so, booked it with your hotel. You will save so much money, trust me. We didn’t know so we only booked it when we were returning home and the price of both journeys cannot be compared.
What you cannot not miss!
- Thermal Baths
This is the best thing to do in Budapest. Spending some time in thermal baths, who does not like that?. We went to two of them, maybe the most famous of the city, Gellért Baths and Széchenyi Baths (see more in section Budapest – What to Visit?) but there are plenty more.
Take a look on the link below and choose the ones that looks better to you, but DO NOT MISS them
- Going to a ruin bar
Ruin bars are bars inside buildings abandoned during the World War II in the Jewish Quarter. They are busy and you can spend a good time here having a drink and interacting with Budapest culture. We went twice to Szimpla Kert (see in section Budapest – Where to Eat and Drink?) and even though there are more choices, this is one of the best.
- Danube River Cruises
As the thermal baths, doing a cruise in the river Danube is also an experience you don’t want to miss. There are several companies that do them daily and if you want you can get tickets to have dinner while on the cruise. To see more check our section Budapest- What to Visit?
