Ronda, Spain

Ronda is a city built on drama: cliffs, deep gorges, impossible bridges, and views that make you stop mid‑step. Even the journey from Seville feels cinematic, with valleys, mountains, tiny villages, and castles perched on hillsides. By the time you arrive, you already sense you are somewhere special.

We had only one day here, but it was filled with unforgettable landscapes, historic corners, peaceful gardens, and steep climbs that made every viewpoint feel earned. Ronda rewards slow exploration, curiosity, and a willingness to wander off the main path, even if the terrain sometimes demands a deep breath before the next ascent.

I can only say that I fell deeply in love with Ronda.

Tips and ideas (see more here)

  • Buy bus tickets in advance from where you are travelling from (we arrived from Sevilla)
  • There are steep climbs throughout the city especially in the Desfiladero del Tajo
  • Wear good shoes for the Desfiladero del Tajo
  • Sundays are difficult to get an open restaurants after mid-afternoon
  • Try salmorejo especially if you like gazpacho
  • Visit Puente Nuevo during the day and at night for amazing and yet different perspectives of the bridge
  • Do not rely on early check‑in promises (we had that experience with the Hotel Colón, but it applies to everywhere)
  • Enjoy the viewpoints slowly, as Ronda is a city made for a lazy stroll
